Sedgwick Claims Handling Procedures
In March, Sedgwick announced the implementation of temporary workplace absence claims handling procedures in response to the current healthcare system emergency related to the COVID-19 outbreak. As we continue to progress through the healthcare system emergency, Sedgwick will now be moving back to standard claims processing as outlined below, effective today, Monday, June 15th.
Standard processing will begin effective 6/15/20.
Any determination, both initial and extension, on or after 6/15/20, will return to standard processing which requires complete supporting medical documentation.
COVID claims processing will now require supporting medical documentation for claims initiated on or after 6/15/20 and be given standard due dates to submit supporting medical documentation. They will no longer auto approve.
There will be no change for the leave to care for a son or daughter whose school or place of care is closed, or childcare provider is unavailable.
Sedgwick and The Encompass Group are here to support you through this difficult time. Please reach out to your Client Experience Manager if you have any questions or would like further information.
